ABOUT BAPTISTE VAN OPSTAL


Lookdev & Concept Art Case Study by Baptiste Van Opstal, Head of Look

Baptiste began his career in the animation industry as a Character TD and Animator at prestigious studios such as Mac Guff Ligne, Sparx, and Partizan. Consequently, these early experiences allowed him to develop strong expertise in character animation and rigging techniques.

Following this, he took on greater responsibilities at Brunch Studio, where he advanced to roles as Character Animation Supervisor and Character Rigging Supervisor. In these capacities, he not only oversaw teams but also guided projects through various production stages.

As a result of his growing technical and creative skills, Baptiste eventually transitioned to DreamWorks Animation. Initially, he worked as an FX Animator. Subsequently, he advanced to the position of Head of Look. At DreamWorks, Baptiste has notably contributed to iconic projects such as How to Train Your Dragon 2 & 3, Madagascar 2, The Rise of the Guardians, Kung Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots, and Shrek 4. More recently, his work also includes Wild Robot.
